WELCOME TO THE MARION COUNTY PUBLIC HEALTH DEPARTMENT MEDICAL RESERVE CORPS

The MCPHD MRC is recruiting new members who would like to make a difference in their community, both in responding to a crisis and supporting local events. Medical and non-medical volunteers are welcome. You do not have to be a doctor or nurse, or even have a medical background, to become a volunteer with the MCPHD MRC. The MCPHD MRC is an all volunteer program designed to augment the ability of our public health system to help our community when disaster strikes.

Types of Volunteers Needed:

Medical Professionals

• Physician

• Physician Assistant

• Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse practitioner

• EMT/ Paramedic

• Psychiatrist

• Pharmacist

• Veterinarian

• Licensed Social Worker

• Mental Health Professional

• Dentist

• Public Health Specialist (epidemiologist, environmental health, infectious disease,

• bioterrorism specialist, etc.)

• Toxicologist

• Others as approved by MCPHD MRC Coordinator

Eligibility

MCPHD MRC volunteers agree to be available in the event of a large public health emergency with the potential to overwhelm traditional health systems.

Minimum requirements for volunteers are:

· Citizen of United States or legal/registered alien

· Current mailing address and contact information

· Current professional licensure information (for medical professionals)*

· Able to stand for long periods of time

· Able to lift up to 25 pounds
